How to find a good domain

Honestly the best names are taken though many good ones drop, and there are some just sitting out there, but rare they have never been registered.

Fist you need your idea. If its a searched and bid term and its not taken get it (unless trademarked or something). So today I started with a name/area that is of interest to me. I did not start of to reg a name but wanted to go through my process, to help you better see. I started looking for refinance home loan, and that is not a new idea. In the few I looked at via estibot, the appraisals (and current owners price) seemed high, especially since many of these searches only came up with 300 searches.

So I can’t MY name, then I go to wordsteam or wordtracker to see what other terms people search for Sometimes it will surprise you as to what people search for, well that didnt bring any names I liked that had many searches or that estibot like at all.

Next I search dropped domains (you can find some sites that offer that). I get a fair number of names that way but it does tend to be a like term I’m looking for, that isnt awful but not high.

The list I found that had dropped was short and all were bad.

Then I looked at porkbun for their suggestions, lot of domain suggestion sites out there, but they have served me best, but its rarely an OMG name, mostly its just workable brandable. Here you have to ask is that going to be good enough for your site. Names like dotcomdollars……is it good enough.

I also use leandomainsearch.com they offer some good lists, but again in most cases the good searched excact match .coms are taken. Not sure thats good or bad, its just the way it is.

If you found a great unregistered name with value thats great. If you found one you love that great to. So then you have to decide if you can find something you can settle for or are you going to go buy one from the secondary market. I tried building on a domain I didnt like. I was working hard on the site, but the more I used the name the less I liked it.

Make sure to get a decent name…and if you are going to get a bad domain you better love it, because you sure are going to have a hard time selling it.
